The HOA Help Hotline

Got a notice on your door and nobody to call? Ask the hotline. It answers immediately, it never puts you on hold, and it has read more CC&Rs than any human should.

Read this first — what this actually is.

  • There is no phone number. Despite the name, this is a chat box on a web page. Nothing here dials anyone and nobody is standing by.
  • It is an automated bot, not a person. Answers come from a fixed set of canned responses matched to keywords you type. Nothing you type is read by a human in real time.
  • It is satire first. The tone is a joke. Some of the general guidance underneath it is real and useful, but it is written for laughs, not for filing.

This is not legal or architectural advice. It is not advice from an attorney, a property manager, an engineer, an architect, a licensed contractor or an insurance professional, and using it creates no professional relationship of any kind.

If it involves money or a deadline, stop and get a real person. Fines, liens, foreclosure, hearing dates, architectural denials, insurance claims and anything with a response window are matters for an attorney licensed in your state — not a comedy bot on the internet. See Your HOA Rights for where to look things up properly.

Try: my grass is too long · trash can fine · can they foreclose · fence approval · there is a goose · how do I read my CC&Rs

If the hotline can’t help

  • Ask your association for the current governing documents in writing. You are almost always entitled to them.
  • Put every request and every appeal in writing, and keep a copy. Verbal agreements with a board evaporate.
  • Check whether your state has a community association ombudsman or consumer division — several do.
  • For fines, liens, foreclosure or anything with a deadline: consult a real attorney licensed in your state.

Something the hotline said wrong, or a question it should know? File it as a violation and we’ll teach it.
